The Vision
The core vision of the agricultural sector is “A united and prosperous agricultural sector.” It is foreseen that this vision will translate into an agricultural sector that is characterised by:
  Equitable access and participation
  Global competitiveness
  Profitability
  Sustainability
  A better life for all

The Target
  By 2015 defend the existing 202 000 jobs in the agricultural sector and have a net increase of 30 000 jobs by ensuring a competitiveness agricultural sector

Investment Recruitment Create an Agribusiness Investment Unit in Wesgro
Increasing Employment Deepen and broaden the skills base in the Province
Recognizing existing skills and knowledge
Create a favourable social environment and career paths
Marketing Develop a marketing intelligence system
Develop institutional infrastructure for product differentiation
Additional support and guidance for new entrants
Infrastructural Enhancement Incorporate off-farm infrastructure needs in the SIP
Strategic Competitiveness Support access to appropriate technical and economic information, knowledge and institutions
Enterprise Development Develop new products and business models
Local Economic Development Ensure that Agriculture receive the necessary prominence
Single representative institutional agribusiness infrastructure
Economic Empowerment Enhance land and tenure reform
Support the Agri-BEE Code of Good Practice
Geographic Distribution Provision of training, extension and research support to a sufficiently wide mix of enterprises to ensure a good geographical distribution
