The Cape Film Commission hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position as Locations Assistant.
  • Are you familiar with the film industry, understanding production issues?
  • Valid Driver’s License?
  • Are you in possession of at least a Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent thereof?
  • Don’t mind long hours?
  • Excellent interpersonal skills?
  • Able to troubleshoot?
  • Able to work under pressure?(key critical)
Key Performance Areas For Locations Assistant

The Locations Assistant will essentially work hand in hand with and report directly to the Senior Locations Coordinator (SLC) to facilitate and assist production companies shooting in Cape Town and the Western Cape. The Location Assistant will also assist foreign clients filming in the Western Cape with logistical information as well to assist with issuing of Letter’s of Invitation for foreign crew requiring visas for traveling to Cape Town.

The Locations Assistant is responsible for:
  • Assisting with facilitating the solution of production problems as they happen
  • Ensuring that the identified plan and programme of interactions to avoid future conflicts is implemented
  • Maintaining current information concerning filming in the Western Cape as well as collating new information affecting filming
  • Assisting the SLC with collating information for report writing purposes
Key Performance Areas include (but not limited to):
  • Assisting the SLC with facilitating solutions for production companies shooting on location in the Western Cape
  • Sourcing contact details of key partners eg. Resident associations, location owners, industry groups, government departments in both City and Province
  • Maintaining a comprehensive phonebook of contacts
  • Sourcing, updating and maintaining information regarding filming in the Western Cape and South Africa including legislation that may affect filming
  • Assisting with the coordination of the FULO programme
  • Updating location database and location website maintenance
