THE WEDDING OF XOLILE NQWARUSHE TO PETRONA TAFEL By Mrs Lucille Qhankqiso Date: 10 November 2012 The Bride: Petrona Tafel, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tafel living and working on a farm just 5km out of the town of Robertson on the way to McGregor. The Groom: Xolile Nqwarushe, son of the late Mr and Mrs Ngqwarushe from Nkqubela Township in Robertson. Where did it all happen? The Wedding Vows Ceremony: Saratoga Vineyard and Fruit Farm Garden Celebration: Carli De Wet Community Hall nearby the Suburbs, Stadium and the Tennis Court surrounded by beautiful trees and nature. The wedding started with traditional African at the groom’s home just after the engagement party where the bride was given a new name known as a traditional name and was dressed with traditional attire of being a wife. A sheep was slaughtered for a celebrating feast few months before the wedding. It was a Multi Cultural wedding with both families involved. The Bride is working at Pick’n Pay and the Groom at Robertson Wineries. Traditional Music and Dance served the entertaininment of the guests. Everyone was singing and dancing. Mr and Mrs Abrahams were the guardians of the Groom playing a big role in parenthood accommodating some of the visitors in their home B&B’s at no cost. Some friends and an ex-employer of the groom gave there support, attending the wedding coming from far as Stanford near Hermanus, Cape Town. Herman and Yvonne who owned the Soekershof Cactus Garden in Robertson and were Xolile (the groom's) employer had a surprise gift for the couple. They took the new wed couple out for a honeymoon in their Qashqai car to celebrate a wonderful time on the beach nearby Stanford and accommodated them for some days in there home. Mrs Lucille Qhankqiso of Ikhaya Lam Guest House and Cultural Tours, with her daughter Phumeza and son Simnikiwe also brought them a professional Photographer and TV & Film Producer who visited their place all the way from Cape Town to take photos. Amongst other guests was also a Trainee Marketing and Event Management specialist by the name Thozama from Zolani Township in Ashton, a nearby town. The wedding went well and the Master of Ceremonies was fantastic with his entepreter translating into three languages in order to accommodate all the guests speaking Xhosa English and Afrikaans. Other special guests speaking foreign languages could also be accommodated in this ceremony. It was real Multi Cultural Wedding. Mrs Qhankqiso as a family member is very thankful to all the visitors who made the day of Xolile and Petrona successful by attending the ceremony. There were wonderful presents coming from everybody’s open heart. I say, "Well done" to Xolile and Petrona, “we were so stressful because everything you did in a silent way and it was a surprise to the whole family.
