The Community Arts Workshop is currently running a 3-month studio residency program at the Castle of Good Hope in the Adam Tas Room with a group of 19 visual artists from July to September 2006.

The following artists, some of whom are emerging and others established, are presently working on a body of work towards their own exhibitions:

Mzukisi Somdaka, Alfred Budasa, Alessandra Desole, Vuhile Voyiya, Lizette Chirrime, Kate Smith, Ernest Fulani, Ashar Mhlongo, Robert Robson, Toni Mhayi, Vivien Kohler, Sophie Peters, Deon Cupido, Brendon Ruiters, Haidee Nel, Ralph Von Egidy, Shakes Tembani, Selvyn November and Matshidiso Sefako.

The studio has been running for the past three months, supported and facilitated by the Community Arts Workshop and Truworths. Having reviewed the success of the programme so far, Truworths have decided to extend their sponsorship.

Together, we aim to provide a supportive base for visual artists to enhance their skills and knowledge, to enable them to improve their earning capacity, meet their personal goals and have opportunity for advancement. This provides an exciting opportunity for the artists, to share, develop and expand their network.

The studio is open to the public between 10am and 3pm daily and visitors are most welcome to amble through the studio and meet the artists.
