Hout Bay Seafood Festival
A generic media & publicity campaign will create top-of-mind-awareness of the festival, from as early as July thru August 2007. This will be sustained leading up to, during and post-festival dates


Hout Bay Seafood Festival
The campaign will comprise the following components:
  • media partnership to be established with top regional radio stations. Daily radio slots to be negotiated, publicizing different components of the festival
  • media briefings (pre- and post event)
  • regular media releases to be issued to all print media over a two month period (relevant community newspapers will be particularly targeted)
  • regular media releases to be issued to all radio and television stations (regional/national)
  • advertorial to be selectively placed, supported by businesses benefiting from the festival
  • placement of photos in Lifestyle Columns (newspaper/magazine)
  • Radio and television interviews will be requested
  • competitions (these can be utilized to maximize publicity opportunities in terms of a competition launch, a function for judging the competition and media coverage of the Snoek Derby competition itself
  • advertising campaign (magazines/newspapers/radio/internet)
  • television coverage – outreach to magazine lifestyle shows as well as television news desks
  • sponsor's branding on festival banners at all festival sites and at media launch
  • 15 000 flyers (to be distributed via participating venues, at festival sites, at traffic lights, tourism info centers and outlets and schools)
  • posters (a poster pole run to be augmented by poster distribution to all participating venues) 800 posters will be erected on street poles throughout the central City precinct and throughout the South Peninsula and Atlantic Seaboard
  • newsletters – schools and City newsletters to carry festival information and program
  • electronic databases – the databases of participating venues (theatres/ restaurants/tourism outlets/schools) will be used to publicize the festival
  • programs carrying sponsors’ name and logo to be distributed to schools, libraries, shopping centers, tourism outlets, participating venues and festival sites
