Every year the whales swim thousands of miles to arrive in South Africa to breed in our warmer waters. The breeding season around the Cape Peninsula is between June and November.
They may be observed from the shores of False Bay, Table Bay, Hout Bay, Hermanus, Betty's Bay, De Kelders and other places around the Peninsula.
It is delightful to watch them while they playfully submerge into the sea and re-appear to blow fountains of water into the air.
