Mareike Kramper was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany where she obtained her first degree in publishing management at the publishing house Heinrich Bauer Verlag KG. Thereafter, in 2007, Mareike moved to South Africa.

Here she enrolled at the University of Cape Town, faculty Media & Film, completing her Master’s degree with distinction in 2012 in Film and Media Production, Documentary Filmmaking, Marketing, Public health and Anthropology. She has since worked on public health, film projects and the tourism industry.

Achieving national and international rewards for the documentaries From Namibia with Love (2011) and Odd Number (2011), Mareike assisting in production and directing.

Mareike also dedicated her time to Media Training Centre for Health, NGO participating on public health training projects for UNESCO. Furthermore, since 2015, she lectured at the University of Cape Town and, while doing so, working for the UCT Unilever Marketing Institute.

However, Mareike’s passion, being a South African, remains for the people of South Africa, for its rich cultural heritage and its diversity. Today she serves the tourism industry as a Tourist Guide, promoting South Africa as a high-end travel destination.

Mareike joined the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Peoples Society of South Africa as Treasurer in August 2019
